NCFF – Manchester

Played football today for Barnabas in the National Christian Football Festival which was played at the University pitches in Manchester.  Unfortunately, the tournament had to be abandoned as the pitches were cutting up but they may be playable tomorrow.  We only managed two games and I played in the first at right back.  Although the team was mostly made up of fit, quick youngsters, these old legs managed to carry me up and down the pitch and I don’t think I embarrassed myself, however, I was “rested” for the second game…

“It’s a big, big job”

Kevin Blackwell on taking over the manager’s job at Luton… I fear he may have a rude awakening.  He also describes it as his “dream” job.  Other priceless quotes here.

Newell’s Gone

Which is a bit of a shame – I think Luton will find it difficult to replace him with anyone better.  He was outspoken but I think he just said out loud what everybody else was thinking.  Who next?  Maybe Mick Harford could be persuaded to come back once more…

I think League One is beckoning though.

Footy Triv for Colin part II

Sorry it’s taken so long. The next card after this one (if you get 4/6) will be presented in an altogether different way….

To Crouch or not to Crouch?

Here is my England World Cup starting 11. What's yours? If it all goes pear shaped, Carrick off, Crouch on. Campbell rather than Ferdinand – more chance of goals at set pieces

Robinson

Neville Campbell Terry Cole

Beckham Carrick Lampard Cole

Gerrard
Owen

World Cup Fantasy League – Help!

Knowing very little of international football, I have randomly generated my team.  However, I obviously have a reputation to defend and any comments on the players, teams I should be focusing on would be greatly appreciated.  Colin, it's over to you….

Champions League

Initially, I thought the referee had ruined the game by not allowing the goal and leaving Lehman on the pitch.  But thinking about it, wouldn't he have had to send Lehman off even if he had played the advantage and allowed the goal to stand?

Thought that Henry and Wenger were a bit miserable after the game – at the end of the day they had the chances to make it two nil but didn't take them.  How long 'til the world cup?

FA Cup

I feel a little bit sorry for West Ham, I think that they did enough to deserve to win.  However – Gerrard, what a player and what a goal.  If he isn't fit for England then that would be a real disaster.  Will Sven see sense and make him captain?…..
