How long is this good weather going to last? Have been out for a walk today with Rose and Helen near Stokesay castle – 61/2 miles of fine South Shropshire countryside in wonderful sunshine and we only got lost once (or twice). If only we ‘d had a map…
Every student I have met today has wished me happy 40th birthday! The reason is below, this notice was put in every form register this morning. It’s been a lot of fun. Have had happy birthday sung to me 4 times, once by a class as I happened to walk through, once in the staffroom and twice in the canteen. I might even come back when I actually reach 40!

We couldn't quite believe it was that time of year, but there was a real sense of deja vu as once again this year we couldn't really remember which was Tim's house. Once we had located all our passengers, the tension, excitement and raw fear began to mount as we entered the special world that is the back room of Condover Social Club. There was an initial pang of disappointment when we realised that our favourite barmaid in the whole of Shropshire was missing from behind the bar. However, our attention was quickly diverted when we got permission to put on the tv so we could watch the footy.
The evening provided another opportunity for Tim "can't quite reach" Curtis and Phil "the power" Woods to experiment with their "no practice" strategy. The evening started quite well with a fine win over the arch enemies Smith and Lawrence
and it got even better when the sandwiches made their entrance and our barmaid turned up. Home produced this year by Ian, they were a fine selection of ham, cheese, egg and tuna – possibly the highlight of the evening. The quality of snooker never quite met expectations but at least Phil managed to pot a ball before the snooker part of the evening finished (a fine black I seem to remember). The billiards tournament came and went and then, disappointingly, due to time constraints the knock out competition (of which we are previous champions twice over) had to be cancelled. This was a real shame as Phil was obviously saving himself for this part of the evening. Still, another marvellously entertaining evening that we wouldn't miss for the world and a tidy sum raised for the Shropshire air ambulance. Many thanks Ian and Gwillam, we are looking forward to next year. click here for more photos

No, I haven't got even smaller for 48 hours. I've swapped cars with a friend… shame it's raining…..
